Thao Moore – Chef / Proprietor
Thao was born in Vung Tau, Vietnam, but her formative years were spent here in Minnesota. She is a graduate from the University of Minnesota – Duluth. After spending years in the corporate world, she decided to pursue her passion for food.
Thao has traveled extensively and has been fortunate to have experienced fabulous cuisines from around the world. She followed her passion for food and studied culinary arts at The Art Institutes International Minnesota.
Thao has competed in local and national culinary competitions. She took the 1st Place and People's Choice Awards at the 2007 Sweet Success competition for the Girl Scout Council – Greater Minneapolis. She was also a finalist in the 2007 Next Best Chef competition as well as a regional finalist in the 2008 S. Pellegrino's Almost Famous Chef competition (North Central region) in Chicago.
Thao has experience working in the catering and restaurant industry. She worked at the Oceanaire Seafood Room in Minneapolis and also staged at acclaimed restaurant La Belle Vie.
As Co-Proprioter and Chef at Green Mangos Catering, Thao enjoys using her creativity to transform a menu to reflect what's in season, what's trendy, or what inspires her. She also works closely with her clients to create a unique menu designed specifically for their events.
Thao cooks out of passion and hopes to share this passion with you in the food she creates. Our company motto is simple: Eat well and dream big. That's what we do and that's what we believe.
Tom Moore - Proprietor
There's this interesting phenomenon between people and food. Simply stated, we often eat just to fill our stomach. In the end, many of us forget that eating was intended to be an enjoyable experience and not just a mode of survival.
Before meeting Thao, Tom lived based on this philosophy. However, her passion for cooking quickly taught him that he was missing out on a wonderful world of cuisine.
Tom encouraged Thao to carry this passion into their vision of Green Mangos Catering. No matter the venue or occasion, our goal is to have your event be a truly memorable experience. We hope to make that happen through the food we create.
